As The Year Comes to An End.....

This has been the most amazing year. Kenzi Lynn turned 1 and we got to share in her b-day here in the states. Candace and Chase are in school in Tyler, Kelli is a senior in college and about to finish. Dad recouped from his horrible stroke. Gary is playing at The Heights Baptist Church in Richardson which is amazing. Shaun and Misti are expecting child number 2 Peyton Shaun.....just a few Christmas pictures to enjoy!!!

I lost 2 grandfathers....one of the most amazing PaPa's in the world - we sure do miss him!!!

Marriages, Divorces, Deaths, Births, A New President, Changes - it all makes the world an interesting place.

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!!!!!!

It's that time and I absolutely love it! We have our tree up and some decorations. Cannot wait until everything is up!

We had a very nice Thanksgiving!!! We went to the river on Wed...Candace, Chase, Justin, Everett, Gary, Mom, Dad and I. The weather was wonderful but the fish were not biting at all. We all rode the 4wheelers and motorcycle. We cooked a great Thanksgiving meal and shared what we were thankful for. Chase is thankful for college....lolol Then mom and I got up around 7 on Friday when Candace left for Tyler and went to the Mexia walmart. I did some Christmas shopping and got some great deals!!! The store was pretty quiet......

Then the rain came!!! and rained and rained which the river needed! but we didn't lolol.

Being with family is wonderful - I'm thankful that daddy is here after having 2 very bad strokes last December 11 and the 18th......What a recovery he has made!

Christmas time is here!!!!

all we can think of around here at school is "45 more minutes and we're out!!!" lolol

I have to brag on my niece!!! She had a cheer competition this past Sunday and received quite a few awards and their cheer team won Grand Champion of their division. Lexi won first place for individual cheer and her team won first place. I'm so excited for her - she's a great little Cheerleader - following in her mom's footsteps!!! My last Saturday Class!!!

So I had my final Saturday class this past Saturday!!! I was so tired of going on Saturday!!!! Wintermester begins on 12/12 and I'm jumping right in since I have 1 huge semester and 1 small summer II session left!!! I am so excited!

Gary was cleaning out the garage and I was in the scrap room and in walks Gary with a huge snake skin!!! OMG in our garage!!! Gave us both the willies!!! How many times did we walk by the snake that shed his skin in our garage???? Yuck Yuck.

I just love seeing Christmas going up everywhere!!! I kind of think that turning your outside lights on already is a bit much!!! I would love to start putting my tree up - actually I will start changing out Thanksgiving and adding Christmas items soon because I just love it!!!

Our Thanksgiving is kind of on hold awaiting to see when Chase will be able to leave school in Tyler. He called and was very upset thinking he wasn't going to be able to come home at all because of basketball. We told him if not we will come to Tyler instead of the River. Chase and Candace just love the river so hopefully we will be able to go there for some time. Shaun will be leaving for Thanksgiving so Misti and Kenzi will spend Thanksgiving by themselves again this year - we will be so glad when they are here so we can share Thanksgiving with them again!!!! I thought about flying to Italy but I want to go after the baby is here!

Be thankful for all God gives us every single day!!!!! Without him we would have NOTHING!

It's A Boy!!!

We received the call yesterday from Misti saying they had their sonogram and It's A Boy!!! They are so excited and so are we....can't wait to see that precious grandbaby #2 !!!! They haven't quite settled on a name but have a few in mind - Misti is due in March of '09.

Well - the elections are over and God is still in Control! I know he has a plan for our country - some say we are in big trouble some say we are going to be fine - I say - "Oh My!" We need to bathe our country in prayer more than ever.

The Heights in Richardson is having their Countdown To Christmas tonight, Thursday 11/6 from 5:00 - 10:00. Come out and join us for a time of Festivities!!!!! I just love the Holiday Season from Thanksgiving to Christmas!!!! I'm ready to decorate for Christmas now!!!!

Sad Day

Misti and Kenzi are about to get on a plane back to Italy. We so enjoyed our time with them!!! Just way too short! Candace and I are planning on going in June after the new baby is here! We cannot wait to see the new addition to the Burns/Gaines/Satterwhite Families!

Fall is in the air and I just love this time of the year! Fall Festivals, cool weather aweeeeeee. Enjoy this beautiful weather!

NURSING SCHOOL FINALLY!!!

Candace just called and said that she has received her acceptance letter from UT Tyler's Nursing Program and she was so excited. We are so proud of her for making sure she had things all together when she applied!!!! Yea!!! You go girl!

We have started 40 Days of Prayer at The Heights yesterday. The staff created a prayer guide that is really good! I've enjoyed it so far. I just pray that I'm diligent in keeping with the prayer guide and make it a priority in my life!!!!!

Misti took Kenzi to the Arboretum - again lol - and had some pictures made....she's just a cutie.

I can't believe they leave in a little more than a week....sad day!!!!

My nephew Trevor who plays for Cain Middle School broke his leg last night. It's a fracture above his ankle. Poor guy! I think one of his own players fell on him. Hopefully he'll just have a boot for a few weeks.

Today at my school we are delivering $38,000 in cookie dough and pizza to our students after school...it's a crazy day here!

I think tonight I'm going to work on putting my scrap room back together. I still have everything packed from my last scrapbook retreat! I can't find anything lolol...

Another Blessed Week

We had a great weekend with Misti and Kenzi. Thoroughly enjoyed the time with our grandbaby!!! and her mom lol....

All of the plans we had for today fell through - the Arboretum was Packed!! and I mean Packed!!! The portraits of Kenzi just weren't working!!!

We did get to see Chase Saturday. We went to Wylie and saw him doing his thing as an athletic trainer!!! Fun times!!! Then Candace came home Sunday - played a game of softball then we went to Chili's.

It's a busy week - alot of Mid-terms this week and next! Whew I will be so glad when I don't have to work full time and go to school full time - it's really about to do me in!!!!

We saw part of The Color Purple last night - music was great but the content at some point was disgusting!!!! They didn't have to leave that in and it would have been great - thanks to Hollywood for making things NOT family friendly!!!! I finally had butter corn at the fair - yummyyyyyy Gary had Fletchers hot dogs!! I enjoyed just sitting and watching the people - I always see people I know at the fair!! funny!!!

Scrapping!!

Joi Blackley and I went on a scrap book weekend retreat and had a great time!!! We just scrapped and scrapped - each of us got alot done!

Chase had his 2nd root canal done Thursday - seems to be doing okay - the "Doc" (head trainer) is taking the stitches out for him tomorrow - that should be interesting!!!!

We had dinner with Kenzi and Misti Thursday - Kenzi Lynn is absolutely precious! She is so funny and has warmed up quickly to the family! They will be staying with us this weekend and we cannot wait!!!!

Today is Mom's 66th birthday - Happy Birthday Mom!!! Hope you have a great day!!!

Girls Night Out

Candace and I had a wonderful time on our little shopping trip!!! We wanted to go to the Outlet Malls in Gainsville and we did go but there are about 5 shops open!!! We ended up at Vista Ridge Mall which was quite nice!!

Mike's family and mine met at mom's for breakfast to celebrate Daddy's 73 b-day!!!! We had a great time!

Wednesday is Fair day!!! Misti and Makenzi are going with us!! Can't wait!!!

We met the family at Chili's and Kenzi was trying to feed herself Macaroni!!! We had a great visit! She is just precious! Her and Misti were very tired!!!!

Misti and Kenzi are landing at 3:00 ish today and we are meeting them to eat tonight! I cannot wait!!!!

Our church is doing a 40 days of fasting and is asking us to give up something for 40 days....hhhmmmm I need to think what would affect me the most!

The fair starts tomorrow - our fair day is next Wednesday - I'm excited to go! I hope the weather is pretty!

Another drama - I rescued a dog that was so cute but very large....we finally found a family to take her. She came yesterday to pick her up, Gary put a leash around Molly and she tore out of the yard and snapped the leash taking off down the street!!! Mrs. Duckworth drove to where she was, Gary picked her up - which is a feat in itself - and put her in the back seat of her car!!! OMG! I hope she works out there. Shooter was getting jealous - I guess he doesn't want a buddy in the back yard lolol.

I'm so tired of school already - really I think I'm just tired of the drive to Commerce!!!!!

My mom has been diagnosed with Glaucoma - she's lost some vision in her left eye. She is on eye drops - we pray they work!!!!

Help me remember....

Why I want to teach these precious kids? I got spit at today - not once but twice by the same kid because he is angry with me for making him follow directions. The second time one of our principals saw him and gave him the what for.....OMG!!! I couldn't believe the first time but the 2nd???????

This year has really been a different kind of year already and we've only been here since 8/25!!! Alot of prayer is going to be needed to get through this year!

Went and watched Trevor our nephew play football and I might say he was fantastic!!!! Way to go Trevor....

Lexi Belle cheers and does a GREAT job at that too!!!! Congrats on her getting her new gymnastic move - sorry but I think it's a round off flipflop!! Either way it is impressive!

Chase comes home again this weekend and so does Candace for her b-day lunch Sunday! Woohoo our baby girl is turning 21!!!!! I know she's excited! hahaha

Well - just wanted for someone to remind me why I'm getting my education degree........oh yea to help these precious kids!!! I need reminding..........................................................~~K~

Pay Day!!!

So Dinner with Carol was a blast!!! We always love to talk and talk and talk! Takes us hours to catch up on life!

So Saturday was crazy with the weather!!! We are all safe and accounted for. Praying for all that stayed behind in Galveston - I just don't understand when it's a mandatory evacuation - why do they stay behind then complain when the rescue people can't get to them or they don't have water or electricity!!!! They were told to leave! Guess you have to be in their shoes to understand but I SURE wouldn't be complaining! Pray that they are all found soon!

Misti and Makenzi come home in 10 days - I cannot wait!!!!!

Busy Busy Busy

It's been a busy 3 weeks. Back in school where I work and back in school where I study!!!

Misti and Makenzi will be in the states Sept 25th!!! I cannot wait. Misti is still feeling kind of sickly - hope that goes away soon!

Candace and Chase are loving Tyler!! I just hope they are loving school.

I have been by myself all week. Gary has been on a "business trip" to Las Vegas! He really has Tech Ed this week but who wouldn't want to go to Las Vegas! Miss him - glad he'll be home tomorrow!

Well a funny for the week....I let Eboni out - our 5 lb poodle - outside with Golden Retriever and the Great Pyrenees (that I need to have someone rescue) and someone pushed her into the pool......she's not a great swimmer but somehow she got to the step and just stood there. I yelled and yelled - was about to leave and decided I better find her or the big dogs might stomp on her. There she was with her head barely out of the water - right next to a DEAD RAT!!!

All is good with the dogs and me! haha

I am meeting a dear friend of mine for dinner tonight to have some girl time! Can't wait - then I hope to make a couple of cards!

Back to School

Well - it's that time again. Back to school!! I actually like being back on a schedule......but makes for a long day!

We are moving some rooms around at the house, painted Candace's room and about to floor it, then will move the scrap room into there and redo the middle room for Candace, paint and flooring. Then Chase's room will get a new floor too! Alot to do. Already have Candace's room painted and it looks good.

I made a sad decision to not teach piano this year. I've taught for 23 years and it was very hard for me to let that go but with 16 hours of college and working full time - I just had to do it.

Busy Life!

Well - we did get Chase moved into his Brand New Dorm - I think Candace was jealous lol. We did get Candace moved into her apt with Ms. Jaime!! It was a long 2 days but Gary and I had a great time. We miss our kiddos but I have to admit - we are enjoying our time alone. Candace came home Thursday - Sunday. She was busy while she was home - but loved having her here! There you go if you'd like to see our Grandbaby - and oh yea! We have another grandbaby on the way. Candace and I will be going to Italy in the early summer to meet Sweet Burns Baby #2!!!!! Yea!!!

Summer school is over for now. 16 hours to come in the fall but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and God has given me such strength to finish this degree! I cannot wait until I have my very own classroom. I miss teaching - even though I'm in a Middle school right now and love every minute of it!

So I'm taking 9 hours this summer session - what ever possessed me????????? My brain is so tired! Two of the classes are 10 days each. Whew!!! But I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and I know it will be worth it.

Tomorrow I read to a group of preschoolers! I think it will be a great time.

Chase moves in his dorm this Friday! Woohoo...A new adventure for my baby boy.....Candace moves to her new apartment this Friday - they will both be in Tyler.

Gary Nelson's b-day is tomorrow - 46 years mature!!!! Happy Birthday Honey!

What a week

Where do I begin.....It's been a long week. Candace slid into 3rd base playing softball and this is her ankle now....she'll be going to a wound clinic because of the infection!!! She's on crutches for a few days.

Chase and Everett floated on the Guadalupe on Tuesday and got lost - 8 hours of floating into the late evening without a clue where they were or how they were going to get out and get picked up!!!!

Just got a call from Italy - Shaun is in the ER - broken bones in his foot......

We are having another grandbaby around March of 2009 - woohoo!!!

Books Books Books

OMG!!!!

I got up at 6:15 this morning, threw on some clothes, got into the Bug and drove to 75 and Northwest Hwy to sit on the concrete for 2 hours and have wonderful conversation with a precious lady all to receive around 200 GREAT children's books FREE!!!!!!!! the doors opened at 9:00 am and I was out of there at 9:10!!!!

At first I thought - is this really worth it? Then when I got the box home and started going throught it - wow!!!!

I just love freebies. I know I have 3 semesters left of school but it's never too early to add to my collection.

Yesterday - The Blackley family and I went to the Ft. Worth Zoo and I bought Penguin and a Penquin floor puzzle to go with my Little Penquin's Tale book.

It was a hot day but really not too bad at the zoo - the animals were all out - having a great time!

Happy Fourth

Well - it's a beatiful day in Heath Texas. We already had breakfast with mom and family and friends and played a little black jack under the trees!!

Now off to creating some great cards with great friends!!!

Thanks to all who serve our country so proudly - including our son, dil and precious Makenzi in Italy!!!

A New Beginning!!!

Well - the last of our 3 children graduated from RHHS on Saturday 6-7-08!!!! It was bittersweet. I know he is proud of himself! and of course we are very proud of his accomplishemtns - especially the Scholarship to college. He will be joining his sister in Tyler in the fall, going to TJC. Candace is at UT Tyler, hopeful Chase will be transferring there in a couple of years.

We had a party for him Saturday night. It went great and he was pleased!

God has big things instore for all 3 of our children! Our prayer is that they will all open their hearts and be ready for what He has instore for them..............

Well - the end is near. I've enjoyed my Teca class - I've learned alot and have used alot of things we talked about already. It has been good growing in technology and learning new objectives!!! Thanks for all your hard work getting us to grow and gather information!

Emerging Technology

Myspace and Facebook - I've been racking my brain trying to figure out how to use these with students....it would be kinda of interesting. I keep thinking, I'm afraid I would find out more about these kids than I want to know. Facebook seems to be the best bet to integrate it with a class....I'm still working on this!

Online Portfolio

This is kinda neat for tonight!!! This will be a good tool to use for my portfolio when I'm looking for a job after I get a degree...lolol years from now!!!!

Webquest

This webquest thingy is alot of work.....not for sure I'm doing it all right. We have to ask permission, so I'm hoping that whoever this person is gives it to me!!!! Chapter 8 had some interesting things in it! The music software was neat!

Technology!

I love Technology!!! My husband isn't as quite as technology loving but he deals with it. I've watched my kids go through the zanga and myspace stage with some pros and cons and now they are into facebook. We all have a mp3 player and the cell phones/blackberry's.

At school when someone needs to do something with their cell, such as send a picture or text, they call me. It's interesting!

I think technology is great but definitely comes with responsibility and teaching the children that is difficult! They think it should just BE! With no restrictions..........interesting!

Reflections 8-7

Wow this has been a busy week for me. I thought the webquests were interesting. Not all were but some out there were really done nicely. Chapter 6 was confusing to me, I didn't understand the whole chapter so I'm reading it again this week! lol The journal I chose for the abstract is really good and VERY interesting! I hope that my power point was correct....I feel that lately I'm just throwing projects together at a fast pace!!!! Chatting is not working well for me. This has been very frustrating to me, I can't get anyone at the time they say. I left messages so you knew I was sitting online waiting patiently, well not so patiently, haha.

Snow....

So I was thinking of putting a snow page together for something fun to do...I wanted to take a picture of a snowflake, blow it up and use it as a background..I'm working on it.

Wow - I was looking at the yearbook that is being created this year for Williams and it's awesome! The kiddos are learning how to use photoshop and they are doing a great job editing people in and out of the pictures! It's amazing what they can learn at such a young age!!! Makes me want to take a photoshop class!

Busy Week

This has been a crazy week but I surely did enjoy the mapping sites I checked out this week. Can't wait to use them in a classroom or on a project!

In class last week we learned some neat things about making our power point. I'm looking foward to working on a lesson plan with the new ideas!

The Hotlist!

Wow - that was interesting. So I created a list of 20 websites that have to do with early childhood education. Then went to a website that put them into a format and created a page for them to be shown on. It was kinda neat. I definitely will use it to keep an updated list of pages I can use for teaching.

Now the abstract! OMG this is so stressing me out. I'm not for sure about T.H.E Journal website and how to use it....I've looked through ERIC - I guess I'm just illiterate when it comes to searching for journals! Mrs. Myers - Help!!!!

Three M's

Wow...that was interesting. The three M's. After looking at everyones discussions, we seem to have come up mostly the same ones. There is alot to do this week....I hope I can finish it...especially the abstract!!!

Alot of Information!!!

Wow - this has been alot to take in this week. But!!! I've enjoyed all of the information. The cyberbee.com site was awesome!!! It had alot of information. I enjoyed going through the links.

Technology!

After reading all of the discussions, it really tells all the different ways technology helps in learning. I think that it has a ton of great things to help out students BUT there are sites out there that just ruin kids minds! I think that we need to make sure children are supervised at all times, even at school. My child got into some sites at school that were supposed to be blocked out but they figured out a way to go around it. Children are smart these days!

Technology!!!!

This class is going to be fun. Learning how we can incorporate fun technology and help the children learn in our classes!!! I enjoyed writing a short lesson plan last night that incorporated the Condition Behavior and Criteria. The list of verbs was very helpful!
